Required Documentation for Firearm Purchases

The transferee/buyer must provide a valid government-issued photo identification to the transferor/seller that contains the transferee’s/ buyer’s name, residence address, and date of birth. A driver’s license or an identification card issued by any US state is acceptable. Social Security cards are not acceptable because no address, date of birth, or photograph is shown on the cards.

Firearm Purchase Waiting Period

In 2018, Florida enacted a mandatory waiting period between the purchase and delivery of any firearm sold by a licensed firearm dealer. The mandatory waiting period is either 5 days, excluding weekends and holidays, or the time it takes to complete the required criminal background check – whichever occurs later.

A current and valid Florida Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) is mandatory to be present at time of sale to waive the 5 day waiting period.

Citizenship Requirements

We sell firearms to US Citizens and Permanent Residents with their physical green card present. APEX does NOT SELL OR TRANSFER FIREARMS TO NON-RESIDENT ALIENS.  Apex sells firearms only to Florida residents over the counter in our retail floor. This ensures compliance with all Florida state laws and regulations that govern our store.

Firearm Transfers

All transferred firearms inbound to Apex will require 48 hours from the day of delivery to process and intake into our FFL Bound Book. Please understand that we can’t release your firearm until after it has been properly processed.  Shipment tracking does not provide this information – we will email/call you once the firearm is ready to be picked up.

Abandoned Firearms

Any firearm that has been transferred to Apex and has not been picked up for a release within 6 months of the delivered date will be considered abandoned hence the property of Apex Shooting Center. Apex will attempt 3 phone calls/emails to make the buyer aware that their firearm is ready for pickup.

Single Shooter Policy

In order to guarantee the safety of all customers, Apex has a single-shooter policy.  If you are renting a firearm from Apex and do not possess a firearm of your own, you must have a minimum of two individuals in your party in order to be permitted to shoot at Apex.  If you intend to shoot alone, you must either bring your own firearm or have already purchased it from Apex.  Additionally, a minimum of one member of your party must be at least 21 years of age in order  to participate in shooting.
